At the anniversary celebration on October 18, 2022, Hegne Abbey and the Hegne Abbey Foundation warmly congratulated 23 employees from all departments on their many years of service and expressed their gratitude to them. Employees were honored for 10×10 years, 9×15 years, 1×20 years, 1×25 years, and 2×30 years of service.
During a cozy get-together with coffee and cake at the Hotel St. Elisabeth, 11 employees celebrating their work anniversaries looked back on a long and eventful time at the monastery, the workshops, and the state-run enterprises, while also looking forward to the future with optimism.
“In such fast-paced times, it’s an honor that so many employees have remained loyal to us for years, and it confirms that we might be doing something right after all!” said Thomas Scherrieb, Administrative Director and Foundation Board Member, and Michael Hartwich, Human Resources Manager.
“Anyone who worked at the monastery 30 years ago can certainly attest to the transformation it has undergone during that time. Sisters have grown older and have had to leave the places where they served for many years. It’s clear to anyone looking from the outside that, with a staff of approximately 300 today, we’re in a very different place than we were in 1992. The fact that everything has continued to go well—and continues to do so—is also thanks to you. For many years, you have worked with us, for us, and in our spirit—for that, I extend my heartfelt thanks to you and to all the other staff members who cannot be here today!” said Sr. Maria Paola.
This year, their combined years of service totaled an impressive 355, for an average of 15.4 years. The employees with the longest tenure this year—30 years—are from the Maria Hilf nursing home and the Marianum.
