Mother Bernarda Heimgartner (1822 – 1863) was the first Superior General of the Menzingen Teaching Sisters of the Holy Cross, founded by Father Theodosius Florentini, who went on to found the Order of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross in 1856.
