“Moved by God’s Spirit, Courageously on the Journey”
70 and 50 Years, Respectively, of Courageous Service as Religious Sisters —a reason for a grand celebration that we held on April 29: with five sisters who, in 1953, made their first profession and spoke an explicit “YES” to their calling as Sisters of the Cross, and with two sisters who marked this occasion in 1973.
We celebrated these anniversaries in the same year that our choir wall mosaic also marks an anniversary. It has adorned our monastery church for 60 years. We allow ourselves to be seen, addressed, and inspired anew by Christ, who faces us, as well as by the female figure with the burning lamp, whose posture is entirely focused on Christ.
Sr. Regina Maria, who helped the sisters prepare for the celebration spiritually, also referred to this in her welcome address in the convent church: Just as thousands of tiny mosaic pieces in various shapes and colors come together to form this work of art, the jubilarians have contributed the mosaic piece of their personality and their lives to the convent community. Moved by the Spirit of God, they have helped shape our province in many places and in many ways, and through their very presence and work have borne witness to God’s love—to His glory and for the good of countless people.
Just as they did a week ago, the honorees and their many guests were once again able to enjoy the hospitality of our beautiful Hotel St. Elisabeth over lunch and afternoon coffee.
May God’s Spirit empower our honorees to continue on their journey with courage and joy, even in their later years!
