Twenty-one former employees of the monastery and the Hegne Monastery Foundation gathered at our Hotel St. Elisabeth for the retirees’ reunion on the afternoon of April 19. Even before entering the hotel, small groups had formed, chatting animatedly and clearly enjoying their reunion.
Over coffee and delicious cake, the conversation about “the old days” and current events continued, with colleagues from the same plants or facilities mostly gathering at the same tables.
Sr. Maria Paola welcomed all the new retirees, as well as those who have been retired for a long time.
After everyone had enjoyed some refreshments, this time the program included not only updates from the convent—as is customary—but those in attendance were also invited on a journey around the world through the Congregation of the Sisters of the Cross. The presentations and photos from the various provinces and vicariates were followed with great interest. The occasion for this presentation was the General Chapter, which took place in Altötting in the summer of 2023 and during which our international and intercultural character was highlighted and could be experienced firsthand.
Among the news from the province was the announcement of Mr. Scherrieb’s successor; Mr. Scherrieb himself was in attendance this time as a “new” retiree. Prof. Dr. Kluger introduced himself in person and had also been chatting with former colleagues during the coffee break beforehand.
