Name Day of the Sisters of the Cross!

On September 14, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, 2,650 Sisters of the Cross around the world celebrate their patronal feast—or, as some might say, their name day.
The name “Mercy Sisters of the Holy Cross,” which our founder, Father Theodosius Florentini, gave to the community, expresses our identity and the community’s charism:
The name refers to God’s mercy, by which we know we are sustained in faith and which is extended to all people.
We are sisters, and in the spirit of Franciscan brotherhood and sisterhood, we feel connected to all people.
The cross in our name symbolizes the salvation granted through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Through our very existence and by actively helping people in physical and emotional distress, we share our faith and hope with them.
We are grateful that, together with our employees, we are able to fulfill this mission to this day—thanks to their dedication and expertise. That is why, on this festive day, our prayers are especially with them.
On the eve of the Exaltation of the Cross, we’ll get in the spirit of the feast day with a vigil service: Wednesday, September 13, at 5:00 p.m. in the monastery church
On September 14, the festive service will also be held at 5 p.m. in the monastery church.
